Vinita Latham MSc. Psychotherapy & Counselling. BA, MBACP(Reg).

About

I am a qualified, experienced psychotherapist and counsellor registered with the BACP. I hold a Master’s degree in psychotherapy and counselling and offer professional counselling online and from my therapy room based in Bolton.

When we experience good mental health, it benefits all aspects of life, including how we feel about ourselves, our relationships, work, and plans for the future. Conversely, when we struggle with our mental health, the adverse effects ripple out across our life. We can feel confused, lonely and isolated, and it can be difficult to know how to help ourselves. I work with clients struggling with their mental health to find clarity and understanding and develop resilience to cope with life challenges.

There are times when we can become so overwhelmed by our feelings and thoughts that we can’t seem to see a way forward – we “can’t see the wood for the trees”. During therapy, you have the space and time to talk about your feelings with someone listening without judging, bringing a sense of relief – feeling the emotional weight lifting.

I have experience working with clients living with mild to complex mental health challenges. I have worked in both the private and voluntary sectors and am currently at a local counselling service and have my private practice. As a therapist grounded in the person-centred approach, I can work with you to develop self-awareness, gain clarity and build resilience. I integrate CBT along with other modalities when appropriate. Talking about your concerns helps bring insight and answers into how best support yourself towards feeling better.

In addition to my academic and professional qualifications, I have life experience that has enhanced my self-awareness, enabling me to offer sensitivity and empathy in most situations. I believe that each person has the capacity to change if motivated and with access to appropriate support, and I find my work profoundly rewarding.

I specialise in working with issues that include:

Relationship and family concerns and divorce.

Depression, anxiety and low self-esteem.

Abuse including relational abuse, both psychological and physical.

Unresolved past events, including difficulties originating from childhood experiences.

Eating disorders.

Additive behaviours.

I am experienced in working with people with Asperger’s and on the autism spectrum and have insight into the challenges of living with autism.

I offer an integrative approach, working with different psychological disciplines depending on each person’s needs. Drawing on my training, work and personal experiences, I can work with you to explore difficult issues, obstacles, decisions, whether they are current or long-standing problems that are affecting the quality of your life.
